How to Have a Birthday Party
Birthdays come and go with each passing year, so how do you have a party that will always be memorable? Here are some tips to get you started.
Steps
Pick a theme. You can go with a Hawaiian theme, a Chinese theme, or an adult tea party for women only. For kids, there are so many ideas out there, from Sponge Bob and Jimmy Neutron, to princesses and pirates. Go to your local party store for ideas, then find invitations to go with your theme.
Choose decorations - streamers, balloons, candles, even glass beads and sand for a pool or beach party. Just think of your theme: glass beads can be sea bubbles, small pebbles spray-painted gold can be the treasure for a pirate party, nuts and bolts in a vase with a candle holder or a bowl of toy cars on top of it makes for a racing party any little boy or girl will love.
Serve food relating to your theme (such as Chinese food for a Chinese party theme,) or serve "a little of everything" to please everyone.
Find games. Games always seem to be the hit of the party, and many party stores have tons of party games on their shelves. Find one or a few that you could picture the guests playing.
Give goody bags or parting gifts. For kids, you can give them stickers, crayons, bubbles, toy cars, plastic tiaras, yo-yo's, etc. For adults, you can give journals, small baskets of mixed gifts, picture frames, or whatever you think your guests will like.
Create place settings. Place cards are easy to make. Use a seashell with each guests name painted on them, use walnuts(with the card sticking out of it) small terra cotta pots, or a small handful of sand that holds a place card. Think about your party, and the ideas that you can come up with.
Tips
You can look in books at the library or book store, or surf the internet for more ideas.
Warnings
If throwing a party for children, and young kids or babies are going to be there, make sure the goody bags contain gifts that they cannot choke on.

Mount Kisco, New York
Mount Kisco is both a village and a town located in Westchester County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 9,983. The Village of Mount Kisco was incorporated in 1875 and was partly in the towns of Bedford and New Castle. In 1978, the village chose to become a town in its own right and joins several villages in the state that have made a like choice. The Town of Mount Kisco is coterminous with the village.
Commercial Hub
Situated in the center of northern Westchester County, Mount Kisco is often referred to as "the commercial hub" of northern Westchester. Often, people from surrounding towns and counties come to shop at the village's array of stores. It has been said that the population of the village doubles on key shopping days. The shopping corridors are on South Moger Avenue, Main Street/Route 117, and the site of the former Manufacturer's Outlet Center, which today houses a Target, an A&P grocery store and several small businesses that were temporarily displaced by the construction of Target and A&P. Unfortunately one side effect of the village's commercial viability has been its steady increase in car traffic since the mid-1990's. This is in addition to an increase in development in the surrounding towns. Congestion is often a complaint among village residents.
Recently there has been controversy over the eviction of several popular stores and eateries in the South Moger Avenue district. Raised rents have caused the vacancies The Italian deli, Villarina's was evicted due to raised rent and had to move to Chappaqua, where store space is actually cheaper. Mount Kisco Deli, a kosher deli, had to move to White Plains. Sam Goody, the Woodworker's Toy Store and Round the Corner Cafe each closed their doors with no relocation possible. A Bank of America replaced Sam Goody's former space, and acquired the square footage formerly occupied by Villarina's . At the center of the controversy is New York City-based Friedland Properties, which claims that it is following normal market values, while critics have alleged that it is throwing out decent stores in search for more upscale stores.
